This policy currently covers the Nordic Sports Garmin Connect IQ watch app. The companion Android app is still in development and handles the same categories of data (activity, heart-rate, and your configured connections) entirely on-device and between you and the destinations you connect — this page will be extended to describe it in full once it's published.
What data the app uses
While recording an activity, the app reads standard sensor data your watch (and any paired accessory) already provides: GPS location, heart rate, and where available, cadence, power, and temperature. This is the same data any Garmin activity-recording app — including Garmin's own built-in activity profiles — uses to produce an activity record.
The app also reads the heart-rate training zone thresholds you've configured in your Garmin device's own user profile (under "Running"), so the on-screen heart-rate display can use your own zones instead of a generic guess. This is read-only and used only to color that display — it isn't stored, changed, or sent anywhere.
What the app does with it
This data is written into a standard FIT file stored locally on your watch. The app does not sell, share, or upload this data to any server of its own, and contains no analytics or advertising.
Right after an activity is saved, the app does make one best-effort, short-range attempt to send a small summary (activity type, training type, wheel type where applicable, distance, average speed/heart rate, and similar saved-activity stats — no GPS track, which already reaches your phone via the normal Garmin Connect sync below) to your paired phone over Bluetooth, intended for the companion app. With nothing installed to receive it, this attempt simply fails silently and nothing leaves the watch; even once the companion app is available, this stays a direct watch-to-your-own-phone transfer, not a call to any server.
The only settings the app stores are your chosen display language (English or German, initially guessed from your watch's own system language, changeable anytime); whether the map screen, altitude data screen, and silent mode options are on; your default wheel type and whether the app should ask for it on save (for the roller-ski activity types only); and an internal flag recording whether that initial language guess has already happened — all saved locally on the watch via Garmin's standard app-settings mechanism.
How the data leaves the watch
The saved activity syncs to Garmin Connect the same way any other activity does: through Garmin's own Garmin Connect Mobile app over Bluetooth, entirely outside this app's control. From there, handling of your data is governed by Garmin's own privacy policy, not this app's: garmin.com/en-US/privacy/connect.
If you further sync activities from Garmin Connect to a third-party online activity repository (e.g. Strava), that service's own privacy policy applies to that transfer. The companion app, once available, will describe its own forwarding to an online activity repository, Garmin Connect, and your athlete's activity diary in the same terms — nothing is sent anywhere without a destination you've explicitly connected.
